Share Permissions & Discoverability Settings demo

Would you prefer to watch a Vidcast where we go over share settings? Click on the thumbnail above!

As soon as you save your Vidcast, you'll be prompted with some options regarding how your audience can discover the video.

Note: These settings can be always changed later by clicking on the Share Video button

Share modal

First, you'll see the option to add emails, domains, share to spaces or teams.

Add sharing
  • Adding someone by email will automatically send them an invitation to watch the video, both via Vidcast notification and via email. You will also be able to change their role to Editor (You will find more about collaborative editing here).

  • Adding a domain will not send any notification. This option is mostly relevant for restricting the access to the video.

  • Typing in at least two letters will allow you to search for a space in your Webex client. Adding the space to the list will automatically post your video to that space and you can even choose to include an introductory message.

    Team sharing

  • You can also select to share your Vidcast with Teams in Vidcast. We have a dedicated Teams article that will explain that feature further.

Furthermore, you be able to Make video discoverable for anyone in your company. Ticking this box means anyone in your domain can discover the video in their recommendations, homepage, or via your profile page. Leaving this box unticked, will make your video accessible only via the share link. No one within your domain will be able to discover it in any other way.

Please note that video can be only discoverable to domains or to emails. Spaces and Teams, to which the video was shared, will not see those videos on your profile page, however, they will still be able to access it with a link!

Now as you may notice, your share options do not end there! By clicking on the menu next to Open link (or Restricted/ Private), you'll be able to choose some additional settings.

Share permission

Open Link

Choosing this option means that anyone with the share link will be able to view the recording. You will still be able to invite someone with an email (and change their role to editor if need be), or share the video to Webex Space or Team.

Restricted

This will allow you to restrict the video to specified domains, email addresses, spaces or Teams

Restricted access

When your Vidcast is restricted and accessed by someone who is not logged in with the specified domain/email or group, they will be able to request access. You will then get a notification about that and will be able to approve (or deny) their access.

Private

And last but not least, you can set your video to be private. This means you'll be the only one who will be able to view the recording.

Note:

  • If your video share settings are set to Open Link, anyone with the share link will be able to view your video (without needing a Vidcast account), however in order to add a reaction or a comment, your audience will need to sign up for a free Vidcast account.

  • If your video is restricted to certain domains or email addresses, your audience will need to either log in or sign up for a free Vidcast account to access it.

You can also share your Vidcast directly to LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or even get a thumbnail with a link for your email. This can be done by clicking on the Social tab.

Social share

Note:

  • When you share to the Webex messaging app, LinkedIn, Slack or Facebook - a preview along with the title of the video will automatically appear.

  • When you paste the link to Twitter, viewers can watch your Vidcast directly from Twitter via an embedded player.

  • If you set your Vidcast to Restricted or Private, we will show only a generic thumbnail and name. Your audience will be asked to login before viewing the video.

  • You can also share Vidcast on a specific timestamp by adding a parameter ?t=number_of_seconds to the video URL. For example, if you want the video to open at 3:00, the parameter will be ?t=180, video at 2:45 would be ?t=165 etc.

And finally, you'll also have the option to share your Vidcast recording by embedding it within your website or app. Just click on the Embed tab and copy the embed link (URL) or embed code (iframe) and paste it accordingly.

Please note that the embedded Vidcast has to be set to open link as we are not able to authenticate users via the embedded player.
