We want to make sure that you're set up for the best experience when using Vidcast. Below you'll find the minimum requirements, a few limitations, and some best practices to ensure your success.

Requirements

  • Vidcast videos must be recorded using either the Chrome or Edge browser for your desktop, or through the Webex app integration. With that said, recordings can be viewed on all browsers (both desktop and mobile).

  • Vidcast requires permissions to access your camera, microphone, and screen share. If you have trouble with your audio, video, or screen sharing, make sure that both your computer and browser are granted these accesses. Learn how to check these settings in Troubleshoot your camera and screen share issues article.

  • For the best performance in recording, we recommend making sure your upload speed is at least 5mbps. This check be checked with third party tools such as speedtest.net

Limitations

  • Vidcast recordings are limited to a maximum length of 15 minutes per video.
**Extending this to 60 minutes is a Premium feature currently available only by request by Webex Suite customers.

  • Recordings can be downloaded as MP4 files, but only by the video's owner or collaborative editors.

  • In general, MP4 downloads and transcripts can take approx. the length of the video to be finalized. So if your recording is 10 minutes long, it's not uncommon for the transcript and/or download to take 10 minutes to finish.

Best Practices

  • If possible, make sure you're not connected to a VPN when recording your videos. This can interfere and prolong the finalizing of the recording.

  • Take advantage of our editing tools. Nobody is perfect - and so we try to make it easy for you to clean up your recordings by getting rid of your unwanted sections.

  • When recording, try to minimize the amount of programs you have running in the background. This may help with performance if your internet/network connection is less than ideal.
