With Vidcast, you can edit out sections from the middle of your recordings

Clipping your vidcast allows you to select certain sections within your recording for you to skip or cut out of the video. So if your recording is 98% perfect, we want to give you the option to remove that pesky 2%.

Opening the Clip tab will open up the editing view. You can click anywhere on the timeline below the video and a clip section will appear (marked in orange). You can add up to three clip sections, per single edit, if you wish. Simply click anywhere in the playback timeline (under the playback window) to introduce a new section to be clipped.

Section for clipping

Just like the Trimming feature, you can adjust these sections by dragging the orange start and stop markers - or by editing the numeric time stamps at the bottom of the page.

Clipping time

Left of the time stamps you'll see three options:

  • Undo: This will "undo" the last change you made while editing. These types of changes could be adding a section to be clipped, extending or shortening a clipped section, or deleting a section.

  • Redo: This essentially does the opposite. Any edit that you "undo" can be redone with just one click here.

  • Delete: In actuality, this is for when you decide you actually don't want to remove a particular section. So if you've designated a section to be clipped out of your recording, but then decide to keep it - the delete button will essentially restore the section so that it remains within the recording. Saving the video is what will finalize the clips being removed.

And when you're ready to save, you'll have the option to save your trimmed video as an updated version of the original - or to save it as a brand new video (keeping the original saved as-is).

Protip #1: If you misspeak or stumble over your words while recording, simply take a breath and try that section again. You can always clip out wherever you make a mistake.

Protip #2: Needing to edit out more than 3 spots in your recording? Simply edit out three at a time. You can always go back to edit more once you save a new version.
